Privacy Policy for Closer

Closer is a mobile app that helps people build closer relationships through daily questions, private circles, and shared answers. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and what choices you have.

1. Information we collect

When you create an account or sign in, we may collect your email address, first name or display name, authentication provider, and account identifiers needed to keep your account connected to your data.

When you use Closer, we may store circle information, including circle type, circle title, your role in a circle, circle membership, invitation codes, invitation links, language, timezone, reveal status, streaks, and question history.

We also collect the content you choose to provide, including your answers to daily questions, answer timestamps, and reports or feedback you submit about questions.

Closer does not currently request access to your contacts, precise location, camera, microphone, photos, or phone call data.

2. How we use information

• create and manage your account;
• let you create, join, and manage circles;
• show daily questions for your circle;
• save and reveal answers according to circle rules;
• maintain streaks and question history;
• personalize language and timezone behavior;
• improve app reliability, safety, and user experience;
• respond to support, privacy, or deletion requests.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your private answers for advertising.

3. How information is shared

Your answers and display name may be shared with other members of the same circle when the reveal rules shown in the app are met.

We use service providers to operate Closer, including Supabase for authentication, database, and backend services. If you use Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In, those providers may process information according to their own privacy policies.

We may disclose information if required by law or if necessary to protect the rights, safety, or security of users, Closer, or others.

4. Data storage and security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including authentication and encrypted data transmission where appropriate. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and limit access to what is necessary.

5. Data retention and deletion

We keep information for as long as needed to provide Closer, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information by contacting us at support@closertogether.app.

We may ask you to verify your account before processing the request. Some information shared with other circle members may remain visible to them if it was already revealed before deletion.

6. Children and teens

Closer is not intended for children under 13. If you are under the age of majority in your country, you should use Closer only with permission from a parent or legal guardian.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete that information.

7. International users

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than the country where you live. These countries may have different data protection laws.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and may notify you in the app or by other reasonable means.
